Paul Braddon (1864-1938), English Watercolour of a European City & Cathedral

$975.00

A stunning watercolor on paper showing an old continental European city with a busy street and a cathedral in the background. Signed by the artist, lower right corner.

Paul Braddon (1864-1938) started by drawing architecture, buildings and cathedrals in pencil. He later moved on to the medium of watercolor, often planning out his meticulously detailed scenes. His latter works are usually landscape scenes, which makes us assume that this piece is from the period of his transition to watercolor – circa early 1900’s. Braddon’s work is well exhibited throughout Britain and the world, including the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, Shrewsbury Museum, Edinburgh Museum and Art Gallery, Inverclyde Museum, Bronte Museum, and Blackburn Grammar School. He was heavily influenced by the work of Paul Marny.
