Large 15″ Pair of Antique Continental Iron Sphinx Architectural Elements
A stunning pair of antique, most likely 16th/17th century, Continental European large decorative architectural elements in the form of perched sphinxes with Classical features. Both sphinxes having brown painted surface over older red, the older red paint coming through in areas making this pair wonderfully nuanced and beautiful! These wonderful architectural elements come from the Estate of Paul W. Doll, Jr., who collected and amassed an amazing and extensive 16th / 17th century Gothic and Baroque collection of furniture and decorative pieces.
Provenance: The Estate of Paul W. Doll, Jr., Lake Toxaway, North Carolina.
Condition: Wear consistent with age and use having old surface soiling and accretion, some rust and corrosion, areas of paint flaking (older red paint surface visible in many areas), both with breaks and losses to bottom feet

Dimensions: 15 1/2″ high, 7″ wide / long and 5 3/4″ deep.
Condition: Very good antique condition being structurally sound with age appropriate signs of normal use as pictured. Wear consistent with age and use.
